Premiere Urgence Internationale (PUI) is a non-profit, non-political and non religious humanitarian NGO. PUI started humanitarian intervention in Ukraine in February 2015. The mission's objectives are to improve or restore equitable access to primary health care for the local and displaced population affected by the military conflict and to improve their living conditions by covering their fundamental needs.

Under the direct supervision of the Project Manager, the Translator Assistant is responsible for translating the project's documents and interpreting during meetings and any other professional conversations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education Degree: Master's degree (specialist's degree) in «Philology», «Translation» or other related field.
Work experience: At least 2 years' experience as an interpreter.
Language Skills: Fluent in Ukrainian, Russian, and English (C2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
Knowledge & skills: Methodology of scientific and technical translation; the current system of coordination of translations, terminology standards, grammar and language stylistics. Good critical thinking; Ability to synthesis a wide scope of information. Solid organizational skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Computer skills: Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (with focus on Excel and Word).
ACTIVITIES
Oral translation
- Translate oral discussions
- Support the Expatriates during the meetings or field trips with translation. Write minutes of the meetings upon the request
- Ensure that the messages transmitted are properly understood by the addressee
- Reproduce exactly the messages received
- Ask questions to the speaker if words and sentences are not well understood to be sure ideas are well communicated
- Explain with other words if there is some misunderstanding.
- Point out verbally any significant changes made when translating from one language to another.
- Kindly interrupt the interlocutors when it is needed to have time to translate
Written translation
- Translate the project's documents asked by the Supervisor
- Recommend adequate wording according to the local customs
- Translate administrative documents which are necessary to the PUI in their activities upon the request
- Ensure the confidentiality of all translated information
CONDITIONS
Starting date: ASAP
Fixed-term contract with possible extension
Location: Dnipro, Ukraine
Working days: Monday to Friday
