PRESENTATION OF SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL
Solidarites International (SI) is a French non-profit organization, providing assistance to populations affected by conflicts and violence, epidemics, natural or climate-related disasters and economic collapse. Our humanitarian teams are committed to helping people whose lives, health and security are threatened, by meeting their most vital needs: food, water, shelter and hygiene.
Since February 2022 Solidarites International started supporting the Ukrainian population affected by the conflict imposed by the Russian Federation. We have set up the regional offices in Lviv, Dnipro and Odesa, distributing the support throughout the country in places of the most need, directly or through local partners.
objective/aim:
The WASH (WAter, Sanitation and Hygiene) and Shelter activity manager is in charge of carrying out the activities related to water, sanitation, hygiene, and shelter support. He/she is responsible for the supervision of the staff assigned for these roles. He/she must ensure that the activities are well-executed and deliver quality results. Where appropriate, he/she proposes adjustments or developments to ensure relevance of the activities.

DUTIES
Main activities:
Analysis and design of the action plan
• Analyze the context, its specifics, and the needs of people affected by conflict
• Participate in planning and calculating of necessary human and logistical resources
• Prepare analytical documents to describe what is needed to respond
• Implement the activities in compliance with Solidarites International’s strategy, technical requirements and donors’ criteria
• Participate in the development of the staff capacity in regard to techniques or new methodologies
Implementation and operational follow-up
• Plan the activities with support of other colleagues according to the agreed objectives
• Supervise implementation of the activities using monitoring indicators
• Assess relevance of the activities, their effectiveness and appropriateness in light of changing circumstances and the needs of people
• Propose adjustments to the activities if necessary
• Use the Solidarites International's tools for management and monitoring
• Make sure the objectives are achieved
• Anticipate difficulties in carrying out the activities and facilitate problem solving
• Suggest new activity directions in accordance with context and indicators
• In cooperation with the administrative department, help to draw up and follow up budgets for the activities
• Order necessary goods and follow up with the logistics service
• Report the stock state to the logistics colleagues
Capitalization
• Reflect on lessons learned and best practices, make this knowledge accessible for staff and partners
• Prepare handover reports before the end of his/her employment contract and forward them to the relevant colleagues
• Ensure of diffusion Solidarites International's technical documentation
Human Resources Management
• Recruit local staff for the activities performance
• In cooperation with the administrative department, define the requirements to the candidates and design the referent job profile.
• Welcome and brief new employees or volunteers working under his/her responsibility
• Identify learning needs and hold training activities
• Serve as intermediary between the team leaders
• Manage and support the team under his/her responsibility
• Conduct workshops and regular or ad hoc meetings
• Evaluate the performance of the members of his/her team
• Identify team members' potential for advancement and communicate this information to Program Manager and/or HR colleagues
• Make sure his/her team follow the safety rules
Reporting/communication/representation
• Share with the relevant any colleagues information on the security context and any event which may have consequences on Solidarites International's activities and team safety
• Write regular reports concerning the progress of the activities
• Write other analytical documents concerning the activities for donors
• Ensure compliance with reporting deadlines and guidelines
• Communicate with team leaders concerning the progress and results of their activities
• Maintain a local operational communication network and positive relations with the local/governmental authorities, donor representatives, UN and other international agencies in cooperation with Program Manager and Program Coordinator
• Represent Solidarites International in meetings or forums concerning the WASH and Shelter activities within his/her regional office coverage
• Represent Solidarites International on request and/or delegation
• Respond to the requirements of Headquarters concerning specific needs
• Write the administrative documents to be signed (MOU, handover, etc.) jointly with governmental authorities, communities or partners
