AIM OF THE POSITION

The Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Field Officer implements Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) activities as defined in collaboration with the relevant MHPSS HPM and MHPSS delegate at local and national level. S/he provides direct support to victims of armed conflict and/or other situations of violence and/or trains, supervises others to do so.  

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develops, implements and follows up on MHPSS activities during emergency at local and national level.
• Trains and supports URCS staff /volunteers and other organizations/partners/teams as per the program’s strategy.
• Implements MHPSS activities directly through individual consultations or group support activities via outreach activities.
• Organizes referrals of beneficiaries and performs case follow-up when needed.
• Complying with ICRC standards, sets up culturally and context-appropriate monitoring and evaluation tools and ensures regular data collection during emergency.
• Develops and maintains contacts with URCS, health authorities, academics, technical advisers from other organizations, etc. as necessary.
• Creates and maintains direct links with MHPSS programs beneficiaries.
• Maintains regular communication with the Mental Health & psychological team and/or Health Coordinator, providing data and programs updates. 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education and professional qualifications

• University degree in psychology, clinical psychology is preferable 
• 3 to 5 years of overall professional experience with minimum 2 years’ experience in MHPSS programs.
• Experience in conducting training and supervision.
• Red Cross/Red Crescent experience an asset.
• Clinical, psychosocial and community-based experience 
• Humanitarian experience an asset.
• Fluent command of English as well as the main local language.
• License to practice in his/her own country.
• Computer proficiency
