AIM OF THE POSITION
Lead and coordinate the implementation of ICRC’s Access to Education (A2E) strategy in Ukraine through a multi-disciplinary response. This includes budget and people management; conceptualization, design, implementation, monitoring and reporting of educational activities as well as internal and external representation of the education file. This position is part of the senior coordination team of the ICRC in Ukraine and as such, is expected to contribute to and work closely with management team.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinates and strengthens a multidisciplinary, relevant and impactful response on access to education across ICRC’s operational response, in close coordination and collaboration with operational departments and within the ICRC Access to Education framework.
- Develops, implements and adapts a strategy that ensures relevance of response, in line with the Delegation’s strategic operational priorities.
- Maintains an overview of the program’s progress and expected outcomes, and a detailed view of the status of individual deliverables.
- Organizes, prepares, conducts, coordinates, facilitates and reports on all program management activities necessary to achieve the project's objectives.
- Maintains a detailed work plan, documenting and managing interdependencies and risks while ensuring that appropriate risk-mitigation measures are in place and regularly monitored.
- Works transversally and closely with other departments, units and structures to mobilize relevant support and expertise to deliver the project, ensuring the backing of and coordination with relevant stakeholders in the field and at headquarters during implementation.
- Reviews/approves the work plans of external service providers or consultancies contracted for the project.
- Ensures program design and implementation is aligned on ICRC accountability to affected people framework.
- Manages and ensures technical supervision of the access to education team in Ukraine.
- Travels to the locations where ICRC implements education-related projects and supports teams working in those locations.
The tasks and responsibilities defined above are not exhaustive and can evolve depending on organizational needs.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education and professional qualifications
- University degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology or another relevant social sciences discipline
- Three to four years of working experience in the humanitarian field, preferably in coordination and project management for a non-governmental organisation and ideally in combination with experience of working in education in emergencies or more broadly in the national educational system
- Knowledge of the relevant national and international standards and guidelines related to the education in emergencies and child protection
- Knowledge of the Ukrainian educational ecosystem and relevant reforms
- Experience in data collection and analysis, and in different methods of needs assessments
- Experience in training design and delivery
- Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English
- Strong experience in people management
- Computer proficiency
- Ukrainian citizenship or work permit for Ukraine is required
