Fortior Law is an international law firm with a main office in Geneva, Switzerland. Our team consists of professionals from seven countries experienced in dispute resolution, primarily under English law. We act for clients before the English Courts, as well as under the auspices of various arbitration institutions such as the LCIA, LMAA, GAFTA and SCAI.
Our practice covers disputes which arise in the trading of crude oil, grains and agricultural commodities, chartering and carriage of goods by sea, as well as investments.

Who are we looking for?
We are looking for an associate to join our arbitration, international trade, shipping and English litigation team in our Kyiv office (which works remotely during the war). Most of our projects are on a large scale and have a high profile within the international market. The position allows for a flexible schedule with the possibility of working both remotely and at the office.
This position is ideal for those with working experience in a law firm and willing to gain experience in English law, and expand their knowledge in international arbitration, trade and shipping.
Main responsibilities:
The associate will work in close cooperation with senior and other associates. This implies day-to-day involvement and discussion of case strategies with the team, clients and foreign counsel, as well as preparation of legal documents. There may be other assignments related to marketing and business development of the company. Typical assignments will include:
- Legal research.
- Drafting legal letters, claim submissions, defence submissions and other documents necessary in the course of litigation or arbitration.
- Assisting with various administrative tasks such as proofreading documents and drafting legal articles.
- Participation in case meetings and discussion of case strategies.
- File Management - including initial reports, updating reports and correspondence.
- Supporting marketing and business development activity.
Requirements:
- excellent written and spoken English;
- superior legal research and strong analytical and communication skills;
- ability to work overtime if need be.
Qualification in England and Wales is not necessary, we need someone who is able and willing to learn fast and diligently. Experience in international arbitration would be a competitive advantage. It would also be beneficial if you could provide a certificate or other document attesting to your knowledge of the English language.
